Maharashtra college of arts, science and commerce is managed by Khairul Islam Higher Education Society, Mumbai. This Society was founded under the able president ship of Dr. Rafiq Zakaria, a veteran Parliamentarian, Writer, Educationist and Islamic Scholar. After the demise of Dr. Rafiq Zakaria, Mrs. Fatma R. zakaria, the eminent journalist, educationist and recipient of the Padmashri Award, has taken over President ship and under her leader ship and dynamism, the Institute is heading towards a better tomorrow. There was no college in the thickly populated central part of Mumbai stretching from Dhobi Talao to Parel. Students of this area, especially girls, faced difficulties in getting admission to colleges, which were mostly situated in the southern part of the city.
